Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) will gather this weekend for the April 2015 semi-annual LDS General Conference. During each of the four general sessions, we have the blessing to hear from inspired Church leaders and receive instruction to help us better live the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The four general sessions of the conference will be held at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, Saturday, April 4th and Easter Sunday, April 5th — at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. MDT. All sessions of General Conference can be viewed live, online, at LDS.org.
The priesthood session will be held Saturday, April 4th, at 6:00 p.m. MDT and can now be viewed live on the Internet.
The Women’s Session of General Conference was held Saturday, March 28, 2015. Mormon Women Stand has a number of blog posts reporting on the session here.
If you live outside North America check your local Stake Calendar for re broadcast dates and times.

Preparing for General Conference matters because it is a significant opportunity to listen and learn from prophets and apostles and receive much needed personal revelation. All of us have questions and concerns in need of inspired direction and guidance for our lives. I believe that as we approach each session with a prayer in our heart, the Spirit will teach us what our Father in Heaven would have us know and do.
I am grateful to know that God speaks today. Through living prophets and apostles, we can know His mind and hear counsel from those whom He has called to lead us to a better Christian life.

It’s also important to understand that General Conference is not just for members of the LDS Church. The words of living prophets are for all of God’s children. With that in mind, consider joining and inviting those not of our faith to join the official LDS Church General Conference Facebook event to watch online.
You might also consider getting involved with sharing General Conference online by using the hashtag #LDSConf when posting messages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, etc. This is a wonderful way to help “noise abroad” the good news of the gospel in a super fun and important way. The Church has also invited members to participate in the Easter initiative “Because He Lives” to bear testimony about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ online. Watch the video and then visit Mormon.org/easter to learn more. You can also like and share the content that we are posting daily on the Mormon Women Stand Facebook page to support this effort. Please use hashtag #BecauseHeLives when sharing related content.

“In this Easter season of the year—when we are reminded yet again of all Christ has done for us, how dependent we are upon his redeeming grace and personal resurrection, and how singular his name is in the power to dispel evil and death and save the human soul—may we all do more to respect and revere his holy name and gently, courteously encourage others to do the same.” ‘Jesus the Very Thought of Thee,’ President Howard W. Hunter
As the world increasingly rejects the teachings of Jesus Christ, even ridiculing those who valiantly stand with His prophets and apostles, these times of gathering are imperative for strengthening our commitment to live the gospel with courage.
In the April 2015 Ensign’s First Presidency message, President Thomas S. Monson “calls for courage.”
“The call for courage comes constantly to each of us,” he said. “ It has ever been so, and so shall it ever be.”
This specific counsel personally touched and encourages me:
“[May] you have the courage to stand firm for truth and righteousness. Because the trend in society today is away from the values and principles the Lord has given us, you will almost certainly be called upon to defend that which you believe. Unless the roots of your testimony are firmly planted, it will be difficult for you to withstand the ridicule of those who challenge your faith. When firmly planted, your testimony of the gospel, of the Savior, and of our Heavenly Father will influence all that you do throughout your life. ”
Sadly, we see those even closest to us wavering in their ability to withstand the “heat” so to speak. It is difficult to feel confident in standing for what is right when the voices of criticism and political correctness are mounting in opposition. More than ever, we need Jesus Christ. How grateful we are to have the opportunity this weekend to hear from those called to lead us, in His name.
May each of us prepare now, to receive His words during General Conference, to increase our spiritual strength necessary to continue to do His work with greater conviction.
