Mormon Women Stand has received concerned messages from those thinking the official Mormon Women Stand Twitter account (@MWStand) has been hacked. It has not.
What we’ve learned is that a counterfeit account was recently launched using our official logo and name, which is clearly in violation of Twitter’s TOS. The false account has been posting ideas that go against counsel from the brethren, which has probably confused readers even more when they mistakenly thought the ideas were coming from Mormon Women Stand.
Mormon Women Stand has filed a report and has provided requested documentation. We trust that Twitter will rectify the situation, ASAP.
We are appreciative of the Mormon Women Stand community for recognizing that our voice is not one of personal advocacy but rather a desire to amplify the words and teachings of inspired leaders of the Church.
From MWS Mission Statement:
“Mormon Women Stand is a collaborative online effort to join like-minded female members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who share a desire to make a public stand as witnesses of Jesus Christ and support The Family: A Proclamation to the World. We believe standing together reflects the divine nature and power with which LDS women are endowed to influence others for good. We unequivocally sustain the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles—commissioned by God and sustained as prophets, seers, and revelators—and support how the Lord has delegated priesthood authority to organize and administer the gospel among all of His children.”
The purpose of the Mormon Women Stand Twitter account is to assist in this effort and to build online community in order to have our collective voice clearly represented.
During the March 28th Women’s Session of General Conference, Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson shared in her powerful address that, “few of us will ever have to face an angry mob, but there is a war going on in this world in which our most cherished and basic doctrines are under attack. I am speaking specifically of the doctrine of the family. The sanctity of the home and the essential purposes of the family are being questioned, criticized, and assaulted on every front.”
Sister Oscarson went on to say, “We have opportunities and possibilities which no other generation of women has had in the world. Let us help build the kingdom of God by standing up boldly and being defenders of marriage, parenthood, and the home. The Lord needs us to be brave, steadfast, and immovable warriors who will defend His plan and teach the upcoming generations His truths.”
With this counsel and encouragement in mind, Mormon Women Stand invites our community of valiant sisters to stand and make sure your voice is heard as representative of a woman of covenant in the public square whenever and wherever the opportunities arise.
Thank you for standing with us.
